Perplexity

Perplexity's Mac app brings its answer engine to the desktop and, on a paid plan, adds Personal Computer: an AI agent that works with your local files and native Mac apps, uses more than 400 connectors, and browses the web. It can chain steps across apps, such as comparing files from different apps or pulling notes into a draft, and runs inside a secure environment on Perplexity's servers. You can start tasks and approve actions from your iPhone, and it works well on an always-on Mac. Paired with the Comet browser, it can operate web tools that have no connector. The app is free to download; Personal Computer requires a Pro or Max subscription. Requires macOS 15 or later. Distributed outside the Mac App Store.
