Overview
TypeWhisper is a free, open-source speech-to-text app for macOS that transcribes audio using on-device AI models. It supports three AI engines — WhisperKit, Parakeet TDT v3, and Apple SpeechAnalyzer — with system-wide dictation via a global hotkey, real-time streaming preview, file batch processing, subtitle export in SRT/WebVTT formats, and a local REST API. Per-app profiles, custom dictionaries, text snippets, and searchable transcription history keep everything organized. All processing stays on your Mac with no cloud, no API keys, and no subscriptions required.
