TypeFire
Text expander, clipboard history and Markdown notes, with AI built in
Overview
TypeFire is a text expander that works in every app, a searchable clipboard history that reads the text inside screenshots, and Markdown notes kept as plain files, including an Obsidian vault opened in place. A local MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT (through Codex), Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, LM Studio and any other MCP app search, read and (with Pro) write your Markdown notes and snippets, right on your Mac, including apps running open-source models locally. Bring a Claude, ChatGPT (OpenAI) or Gemini key, use a local model, or use Apple Intelligence on device. With Selection Prompts, select text in any Mac app, pick a prompt, and the AI's answer replaces your selection in place. A snippet can carry an AI step, so typing a short abbreviation can rewrite, summarize or translate on the spot.
Pricing: Free. Pro is a one-time $18.
Minimum macOS: 13.0 (Ventura)
Architecture: Apple Silicon, Intel
