Overview

Ghost is a native SwiftUI app that lives in your menu bar and opens with Option+Space, dropping from the camera notch or floating up as a text bar. One surface handles chat, file creation, local document search, memory, timers, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, screen OCR, and agent coding sessions. An intent classifier routes each prompt across eight providers — LM Studio and Ollama for fully local models, plus Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenCode Go, OpenCode Zen, and any OpenAI-compatible server — or runs chat on your existing Claude Code, Codex, or Antigravity subscription. An on-device Markdown knowledge base remembers durable facts about you, and approved folders are indexed into local SQLite with FTS5 full-text search across 30+ formats, with no embeddings API or vector database. Nearly eighty verified tools cover file operations, document generation in DOCX/PDF/PPTX/XLSX, and on-device Mac controls, all behind permission switches that are off by default. Messages, Notes, Mail, and Contacts are processed on device only and never sent to a cloud model on Ghost's own initiative.
