Overview
Berd is Block's open-source desktop app for building with AI agents — "less chatting, more building." Built with Tauri 2 and React 19, it bundles the Goose backend as a sidecar and talks to it over the Agent Client Protocol, giving you a persistent agent companion rather than a chat window. Start a conversation, attach files or folders, pick an agent and model, and work inside projects that keep session history, context, and workspace state intact. Ships with a collection of starter agents (Agt Builder, Choosey, Copycat, Pushback, Tinker, Wildcard), portable Agent Skills you can install independently, MCP connections that can be shared with Goose, Claude Code, or Codex, and automations. Provider-agnostic — bring your own key for any model. Built in the open by a small team at Block under Apache-2.0, with enterprise distribution seams for organizations that want managed provider settings.
Pricing: Free and open source (BYOK)
Architecture: Apple Silicon
